The Pac-12 announced a temporary media rights deal for the 2025 football season, covering games for remaining members Oregon State and Washington State. The deal involves CBS, ESPN and The CW and may foreshadow a longer-term agreement. The conference is expected to expand with schools like Colorado State and San Diego State, but needs at least one more football member.
The Pac-12 has a new media rights deal, but maybe not the one everyone is looking for yet.
The conference announced April 29 a deal for the 2025 college football season when Oregon State and Washington State are the only two members of the conference.
The league announced all 13 home games for Oregon State and Washington State during the 2025 season will air on one of three different networks, with nine games on The CW, two on CBS and two on ESPN.
The financial terms of the contracts have not yet been revealed.
What the news could be, though, is another step for the announcement of a longer-term announcement of a media rights package for 2026 and beyond when the league expands.
Here’s what to know about the current status of Pac-12 expansion.
Who will be in the new-look Pac-12?
The new Pac-12 will include Washington State, Oregon State, Colorado State, Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State and Gonzaga (non-football member).
What will the new Pac-12 media rights be?
The media rights package announced April 29 is just for the 2025 season, not beyond. But it is likely a hint of what’s to come.
The media rights partners (ESPN, CBS and The CW) are unlikely to enter into an agreement for just one year. Likewise, the Pac-12 has been seeking long-term partners in the deal.
It’s not a reach then…
