While the Texas Longhorns had plenty to celebrate last weekend with the NFL draft, they were also focused on the future. They welcomed four-star DL prospect JaReylan McCoy to campus for a visit. With the Longhorns hoping to add to their 2026 class, McCoy is a top target.
The Mississippi native is currently ranked as the No. 7 athlete in the state and the No. 16 defensive lineman in his recruiting class. That has drawn the interest of some of the best programs in the country. Luckily for Texas, McCoy left campus with positive reviews.
“I loved it there,” said McCoy following his visit, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.
Earlier this year, McCoy committed to LSU before decommitting just over a month later. He is now projected to end up at Ole Miss, but that hasn’t stopped teams like the Longhorns from trying to recruit him. Over the next two months, he has visits scheduled with Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU.
With no decision date set, fans will have to be patient as they await to see where McCoy ends up. He is a talented pass rusher who makes life difficult for offensive coordinators regardless of the matchup. If the Longhorns target reaches his potential in college, he could be one of the best players at his position.
Regardless of what happens, it seems the Longhorns have made a good first impression.
