Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman on identifying and developing a new group of team leaders, aka ‘problem solvers.’
SOUTH BEND —Just because Notre Dame football has had a relatively quiet spring transfer portal, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been key developments to monitor regarding the 2025 schedule.
In fact, two more opponents among the “12 guaranteed opportunities” coach Marcus Freeman likes to cite will take the field with former Irish players in tow.
Here’s a transfer-centric look at Notre Dame’s 2025 slate, including one highlighted player per team that made it there through the portal in this winter-spring cycle. Team totals are as of May 1:
Game 1: Miami QB Carson Beck (Georgia)
A season-ending elbow injury in the SEC Championship kept Beck from facing Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl CFP quarterfinal, but the Irish should get an up-close look at the Georgia transfer in the season opener.
With 58 career touchdown passes and nearly 8,000 career passing yards, Beck is the most accomplished rival passer on the Irish schedule.

Game 2: Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion (N.C. State)
After 124 catches, including 16 touchdowns, over the past two seasons with the Wolfpack, Concepcion takes his game-breaking speed to College Station. The Irish held him to five catches for 24 yards in September 2023 in Raleigh, but he gives returning quarterback Marcel Reed a reliable target.
Team total: 14 transfers
Game 3: Purdue: WR Nitro Tuggle (Georgia)
