Nebraska Football landed a commitment from 2027 four-star quarterback Trae Taylor on Thursday afternoon. He made the announcement during a live stream on 247Sports’ YouTube channel.
Taylor is the third overall quarterback in the 2027 class and the second overall player in his class from the state of Illinois, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Several teams made a final push to recruit him on Wednesday, as Illinois and LSU both made visits. Nevertheless, he stayed with his choice of the Huskers. He was recruited to the program by quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas.

He threw for 3,061 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, per statistics from MaxPreps. He also carried the football 41 times for 342 yards and four touchdowns.

Nebraska football has done a good job of recruiting quarterbacks over the last couple of classes. Taylor’s commitment gives Nebraska another bona fide playmaker at the position. This sets them up nicely in the quarterback room for life after Dylan Raiola, with TJ Lateef and Marcos Davila currently in the room. Dayton Raiola is also waiting in the wings as a member of the 2026 class.
