BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti sat down for a lively conversation with longtime Hoosiers play-by-play announcer Don Fischer on Thursday night at the Ferguson Crestmont Boys & Girls Club.
Cignetti was the featured speaker at the club’s annual BOYS to MEN fundraiser. Leslie Abshier, the CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington, said this year’s event set an attendance record with nearly 400 tickets sold.
“We are squeezed about as tight as we can be,” Abshier said with a laugh. “We even added an extra row in the back.”
There were a pair of tables reserved for members of the football team — 16 players attended the fundraiser, including offensive tackle Kahlil Benson, center Pat Coogan, linebacker Rolijah Hardy, and tight end Holden Staes — and they introduced themselves on the mic at Cignetti’s request.
“They are fulfilling their NIL obligations,” Cignetti joked.
The annual fundraiser was expected to bring in upwards of $200,000 to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington programs, including BOYS to MEN, a group-based mentorship initiative.
