UL football’s Lunch Winfield talks spring ball ahead of Spring game

Ahead of the 2025 Vermilion & White game on Saturday, UL football’s quarterback Lunch Winfield talks about how the spring has been for him.

Spring is upon us, and that means it’s time for some spring ball in Cajun country.

Louisiana football is hosting its annual Vermilion & White game, pitting fellow Ragin’ Cajuns against each other all for the sake of preparing for the upcoming 2025 college football season. All spring long, the Cajuns have been in the field for 12 practices all leading up to today’s game.

After losing and gaining some players to the transfer portal, head coach Michael Desormeaux and his staff have been slowly but surely putting the pieces together, seeing who goes where on both sides of the ball. New leaders will emerge, including those at the helm of UL’s offense and at the quarterback position.

“I feel great that I get to showcase my talent and just show the people what they’ve been waiting on, ” UL quarterback Lunch Winfield said. “I take this week as a game week. We came back off of spring break, it’s like a bye week or anything like that. So I’m going into it like it’s a game, so just showcase my talent.”

Winfield and the rest of the Cajuns will look to put on a show for Cajun Nation, giving them a sneak peek of what’s to come in the fall.
