3 things to know on 5-star QB & Georgia football target Jared Curtis

Recruiting typically heats up as the temperature rises.

This May in particular looks like it will be significant for Georgia football’s 2026 class.

That seems obvious considering the Bulldogs sit only at No. 25 nationally in the 247Sports Composite team rankings entering this past weekend.

A major recruiting target plans to announce his commitment Monday at 5:30 p.m. ET.

That’s five-star quarterback Jared Curtis from Nashville Christian School who plans to reveal his decision in the school’s gymnasium.

Curtis is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall player behind only Jackson Cantwell, the offensive tackle from Nixa, Mo., who is also considering Georgia.

Here are three things to know about Curtis ahead of his announcement:

It all comes down to Kirby Smart vs Dan Lanning

Curtis is deciding between two teams that made the playoffs last season.

It’s Georgia vs. Oregon. Kirby Smart vs. former Bulldog defensive coordinator Dan Lanning.

Both programs lost to lower seeded teams in the CFP quarterfinals, but are projected to be top 10 teams in the preseason. Oregon finished No. 4 in the coaches poll and Georgia No. 6.

Curtis committed to Georgia less than a year ago on March 23, 2024 but backed off that pledge on Oct. 17.

Offensive coordinators from both schools— Georgia’s Mike Bobo and Oregon’s Will Stein — have visited with Curtis in the last week.

Curtis has an NIL valuation of $2.7 million, which ranks No. 1 in the 2026 class and No. 16 overall of any college athlete, according to On3.

“Throughout this process, he’s unchanged from a personality standpoint,” Nashville Christian coach Jeff Brothers told the Athens Banner-Herald. “In today’s day and age of the capitalist part of football, it’s not fazed him.
