The 2025 college football season will be dominated by several storylines, led by Texas quarterback Arch Manning making his debut as the program’s starter despite seeing extended playing time last season. While most of this will be overblown based on his lineage as the Nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, the junior signal caller is fully expected to lead the Longhorns back to the College Football Playoff for a third consecutive year.
However, the SEC will be surrounded by expectations for nearly every team due to the new transfer portal era, even including Vanderbilt, who is coming off a seven-win season led by veteran QB Diego Pavia, who will return for a final season.
For Texas A&M, head coach Mike Elko and his staff are aware of the pressure to get past eight wins, meaning starting quarterback Marcel Reed will need to improve as a passer to pair with his already impressive skills on the ground, while the Aggie defense has plenty of talent at all three levels, but will need to find a pass rush with the new D-line editions, and fix the coverage issues in the secondary.
On paper, Texas, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss enter the season as the top teams in the conference, but as we all know, the teams with the best quarterback play usually succeed, and with 10 of the 16 teams in the conference installing new signal callers, it’s anyone’s game in 2025.
Offseason questions will be answered once the 2025 season begins, but until then, initial predictions for how each team will perform next season are just part of the pathway toward the return of college football in the Southeastern Conference. Here are the updated win-loss projections for every SEC team after the spring football season.
