Texas A&M (27-20, 10-14 SEC) is on the cusp of making it back to the NCAA Tournament despite the poor start to the season after winning a fourth SEC series over No. 2 LSU last weekend, as the Aggies’ pitching staff all but matched LSU’s impressive showing on the mound, but it was the late clutch hitting by Aggie star outfielders Jace LaViolette and Caden Sorrell During Sunday’s rubber match that sealed the deal for the home team.
According to most college baseball analysts, Texas A&M is three, or possibly four wins away from earning a postseason bid, earning as high as a two-seed in the regional round, which would be a nightmare for the higher-ranked teams with better regular season records, mainly due to the Aggies’ dominance against three SEC teams seen as national championship contenders.
However, due to A&M’s early season struggles, the record isn’t pretty, but how the Aggies fared against Tennessee, Arkansas, and now, LSU is all that matters when it comes to the postseason, and with last-place Missouri coming to College Station this weekend, followed by a regular-season finale road series against Georgia three, four, or maybe more wins is highly attainable.
