USA TODAY Sports rerank after spring practice season

The college football spring season is well in the rearview mirror and the summer sessions are quickly approaching, which means the start of the collegiate gridiron action is merely months away. While there is still plenty of time for things to develop between now and the opening of the 2025 schedule, next season’s national landscape is slowing coming into view.

USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg recently published his re-ranking of all 136 Football Bowl Subdivision schools, which tallies each and every school from top to bottom based on what was seen during spring, including transfer portal activity. The Florida Gators, who have been steadily improving over the first three years of Billy Napier’s tenure, made an appearance in Myerberg’s top 25 this time around.

According to the re-rank, the Orange and Blue land at No. 21, wedged between the No. 20 BYU Cougars and No. 22 Texas Tech Red Raiders. It also makes Napier’s squad the seventh-best Southeastern Conference program in a season that promises to be yet another bruiser for the league.
