Clemson and Notre Dame have taken a major step toward solidifying one of college football’s premier rivalries.

On Monday, the two schools announced a new 12-year home-and-home football series that will begin in 2027 and run through 2038, locking in annual meetings between the Tigers and the Fighting Irish for over a decade.

The two programs were already scheduled to play in 2027 and 2028, but the newly finalized agreement extends that into a consistent, high-stakes non-conference matchup every season for 12 years. Clemson and Notre Dame have faced off eight times in their history, including some of the sport’s most memorable clashes in the College Football Playoff era. Clemson currently leads the series 5–3.

“This locks in a huge rivalry for us with a non-conference opponent that’s going to be strong year in and year out,” Clemson athletic director Graham Neff said. “The association of national brands like Clemson and Notre Dame create a great fan experience, strong viewership and value.”

Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua echoed the excitement: “It’s been such a great rivalry and we want to see it happen every year. It’s historically been a great back-and-forth. I think we could see it continue to develop into one of the great rivalries in college football.”

Both schools are fixtures in the national conversation. Clemson enters the 2025 season riding a 14-year streak of at least nine wins, while Notre Dame has posted at least nine victories in eight straight seasons. The two teams have met in the CFP…
