Colorado football top class of 2026 target, tight end Gavin Mueller, will announce his commitment on Wednesday, May 14, at 4:20 p.m. ET, 2:20 p.m. CT.
The three-star recruit will choose between four finalists: Colorado, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and LSU.
247Sports ranks Mueller as the No. 831 player in the class of 2026, No. 41 tight end and No. 17 recruit in Illinois. Mueller visited Boulder on May 2, and the Buffs seem to be heavily recruiting the tight end, with Colorado tight ends coach Brett Bartolone visiting Mueller two times in the past week. He visited Wisconsin on April 23 and will visit LSU on May 9.
On3 lists the Illinois native as a 31.8% favorite to go to Wisconsin. LSU is next at 14.1%, then Colorado at 12.1% and Notre Dame at 7.6%.
Colorado only has one player committed to its class of 2026. That one commit is junior college product Domata Peko Jr., whose father is the Buffaloes’ new defensive line coach. Adding Mueller to the mix would be a positive start to a likely top-heavy recruiting class under head coach Deion Sanders.
Stay tuned next week as Mueller announces his commitment decision. Based on recent activity and praise from Mueller himself on Colorado’s recruiting efforts, he could very likely be the first significant commitment to CU’s 2026 class.
