The Georgia Bulldogs landed their top commitment in the class of 2026 earlier this week when five-star quarterback Jared Curtis announced his verbal commitment.
However, Georgia could be in line to add an even bigger commitment next week. There’s only one bigger fish in the pond than Curtis, who is the second-ranked recruit in the nation. That’s five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.
Cantwell is the top-ranked recruit in the country in the class of 2026 and he plans to visit Georgia on May 10 just days before his commitment on May 13. The 6-foot-8, 300-pound offensive tackle plays high school football for Nixa High School in Nixa, Missouri, and is the son of two Olympic athletes.
Cantwell could protect Curtis’ blindside for years to come. Curtis is expected to head down to Athens to help recruit Cantwell on his final visit with UGA.
Who are Jackson Cantwell’s top schools?
Georgia, Oregon, Ohio State and Miami are Cantwell’s top four schools. The Bulldogs appear to be in a prime position to land Cantwell based on the timing of his final visit.
Cantwell is projected to commit to the Miami Hurricanes, per one 247Sports expert, but the recruiting industry does not have a consensus on where he will land.
Cantwell congratulated Curtis following his commitment to Georgia on social media. “Congratulations,” said Cantwell. Cantwell additionally teased the idea of him joining Curtis in Athens.
Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia football fans would love nothing more than to land the dynamic five-star duo of Cantwell and Curtis. We’ll find out on May 13 if that’s the case.
