UNC football lands Arkansas TE Shamar Easter

Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels football program continue to address a need with their offense for the 2025 season. On Wednesday, the Tar Heels earned a commitment from one of the top tight ends in the transfer portal with the commitment of Shamar Easter.

Per Chris Hummer, Easter has officially signed with the Tar Heels giving them a new weapon at the position. And it’s a big one.

The 6-foot-5, 228-pound Easter was the second-best tight end in the 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings. He was the number one player in the state of Arkansas per multiple recruiting rankings coming out of high school and had offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Florida State, Kansas, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M among others.

As a freshman in 2023, he redshirted before playing in 2024. However, he caught just one pass for 16 yards for Arkansas last season.

With tight end being a need, this now gives UNC an option for their offense in 2025. He’s the 15th player to commit to UNC in the transfer portal over the past month and they probably aren’t done adding to the roster through the transfer portal either.
