Oregon Football ranked as one of most attractive jobs in the nation

While he has only been in Eugene for a handful of years, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has had many opportunities to leave. In past seasons, job openings at places like Auburn and Texas A&M led to speculation that Lanning would depart the northwest to take over at an SEC school. Last year, Nick Saban’s retirement caused the most considerable stir, with a chance to return to the Alabama Crimson Tide and take over at college football’s most prestigious location leading many to speculate that Oregon’s head man might leave.

Each time an opportunity to depart has presented itself, Lanning has responded to the rumor mill with the same question: “Why would I want to leave here?”

At Oregon, Lanning says he has everything he could ever want: an elite college town, the best facilities in the nation, an incredibly strong backing from Phil Knight and Nike, and a platform to compete with the best schools in the nation for national championships.

It’s all of those things that have led On3’s Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman to rank the Ducks as one of the most coveted jobs in college football.

While Oregon may not hold the top spot, they certainly are high on the list. According to the analysts, the Ducks are No. 4 on the list of the best jobs in the sport heading into 2025.

There is surprisingly some disagreement at the top, with Wasserman choosing Texas while Staples goes with Georgia, but both men have the same top-four schools, with Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon in different orders.

Schools like LSU, Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas A&M, Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Penn State round out the top 10 for each person.
