Yankees prospect Spencer Jones talks torpedo bats, plate consistency
Spencer Jones, the Yankees’ No. 6 prospect according to Baseball America, will be the big name to watch in Somerset to begin the 2025 season.

Once again, St. Thomas Aquinas has a new football coach.
The school announced Thursday afternoon that it hired Shamir Bearfield to lead the Trojans football program. Bearfield was the defensive coordinator at St. Peter’s Prep.
He also played at St. Peter’s Prep and in college at Temple and William & Mary. He has coaching experience at Lehigh, Fairleigh Dickinson and Seton Hall Prep.
Bearfield replaces Jonathan Germano, who was hired in late January. However, the school’s press release said that Germano “recently declined his appointment as head coach.”
Germano, who was a Bergen Catholic assistant coach and star quarterback at Johns Hopkins, replaced Tarig Holman. St. Thomas Aquinas fired Tarig Holman after three seasons as head coach on Jan. 10, according to Holman. The Trojans have been state-ranked the last two seasons and went 27-6 the last three seasons.
It is now Bearfield’s turn to lead the Trojans.
“As a coach and educator, I believe in cultivating a Christ-centered environment that emphasizes service, integrity and moral leadership,” said Bearfield in the press release. “I am excited about the opportunity to integrate faith into the St. Thomas Aquinas football program — helping students deepen their relationship with God while learning the virtues of humility, perseverance and brotherhood.”
