ATHENS, Ga. — While Texas A&M and Oklahoma are enduring a weather delay at the SEC softball tournament, officials are confident that a break in the rain will allow the championship game to start approximately 30 minutes after the tarp covering the field gets pulled, according to a Texas A&M official.
With the threat of inclement weather increasing as Saturday wears on, SEC officials announced on Friday that they moved the championship game from 4 p.m. CT to noon CT.
Oklahoma (45-7), the tournament’s No. 1 seed, did not play second-seeded Texas A&M (45-9) in the regular season but edged the Aggies for the SEC regular-season title. Texas A&M and Oklahoma haven’t met as conference rivals since 2012, when Oklahoma won two of three games in a regular-season series in the Big 12. Since then, the Sooners have won all 10 meetings, with eight of those games coming in the NCAA Tournament.
