LSU football went all out in building its 2025 roster. LSU finished 2024 with three straight wins, but a 9-4 record fell short of expectations in Baton Rouge. Eyeing a return to the College Football Playoff, LSU assembled the top ranked transfer portal class in the country. LSU also took steps to ensure key players returned, such as QB Garrett Nussmeier and leading receiver Aaron Anderson.
The talent level in Baton Rouge is back where it should be, and hopes are high entering 2025.
This roster has several players who are all-conference caliber. Between proven veterans and potential breakouts, LSU hopes to see a handful of Tigers on the All-SEC team come December. Today, we’ll rank the five LSU players with the best chance to reach that status.
If five players from Kelly’s squad are first-team All-SEC, we’re probably looking at an LSU team gearing up for a playoff run.
Here are the five Tigers with the best chance to be All-SEC in 2025.
Garrett Nussmeier, Quarterback
We’ll start with the quarterback who’s had plenty of buzz this offseason. Nussmeier is among the favorites for the 2025 Heisman Trophy and is seen as a potential first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
If Nussmeier has the season LSU expects, he won’t fly under the radar. Nussmeier’s arm can make all the throws and the mental aspect started to click down the stretch in 2024. With another full offseason as the starter, Nussmeier has the chance to put it all together.
It’s a good year for quarterbacks, meaning Nussmeier will have some stiff competition. Arch Manning should have a strong All-SEC case, too. But Nussmeier has the experience and the talent to be the best quarterback in the conference.
Whit Weeks, Linebacker
