Five-star offensive tackle recruit Jackson Cantwell committed to the Miami Hurricanes over the Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon Ducks. Miami built up some late momentum with Cantwell and landed Cantwell, who is the top-ranked recruit in the country.
Cantwell’s commitment to Miami is a big blow for Georgia. He was Georgia’s top offensive line target in the class of 2026. The Bulldogs have no other obvious five-star offensive lineman that they’re in the mix for unlike Oregon, who is expected to land a commitment from five-star Immanuel Iheanacho.
Following his commitment, Cantwell conducted several interviews. He explained why he committed to Miami and later posted a message for Hurricanes fans on social media.
“305 here we come!!!” said Cantwell. The 6-foot-8, 300-pound offensive tackle is obvious excited to head to Miami despite valiant efforts from Georgia and Oregon.
Cantwell is Miami’s top-ranked commitment in the class of 2026. He’s the Hurricanes’ lone five-star commitment in the 2026 recruiting cycle and his commitment is why Miami (No. 9) leapt past Georgia (No. 12) in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.
Cantwell is not Miami’s only notable recruiting victory over Georgia. The Hurricanes also landed former starting quarterback Carson Beck via the transfer portal this winter.
Miami and Georgia are building a bit of a recruiting rivalry now that the name, image and likeness era is here. Georgia did not used to get in as many recruiting battles with Miami, but the times have changed.
