Former Oklahoma defensive lineman Alton Tarber has committed to Colorado State.Tarber, a former three-star recruit, spent last season at Hinds Community College after leaving Oklahoma. He is the second Power 5 defensive lineman to transfer to CSU this spring.
The Colorado State football program has gained another big addition to the defensive line.
For the second time this spring, a former Power 4 defensive lineman has committed to join the Rams and help fill a key need up front.
Former Oklahoma player Alton Tarber announced his commitment on X May 14.
The 6-foot-3, 318-pound Tarber was ranked as the No. 95 defensive line recruit in the country out of high school (Deerfield Beach, Florida) by ESPN. A consensus three-star recruit, Tarber chose the Sooners over Miami, Georgia Tech and others.
Tarber, in part due to injury, didn’t play as a freshman for Oklahoma in 2022 and he entered the transfer portal after the 2022 season. Tarber has since posted on X that he took a year off from football to “get my mind back right.”
He played at Hinds Community College last season and had 17 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a half-sack in eight games.
Tarber is the second former P4 defensive lineman to commit to the Rams recently after Kentucky’s Dennious Jackson did so earlier in May.
