Auburn football is expected to take a giant step forward this season after striking gold in the transfer portal this offseason.
Hugh Freeze filled several needs with transfer portal additions, but the newcomer that is garnering the most attention is quarterback Jackson Arnold, the former Gatorade Player of the Year from Texas, who joins Auburn from the transfer portal. Several factors led to Arnold not living up to the hype at Oklahoma, but his career could take a positive turn with the help of Auburn’s stellar wide receiver room and experienced offensive line.
Freeze recently shared that he noticed a positive trend in Arnold’s confidence during spring practice.
“Jackson (Arnold) didn’t prove it last year at Oklahoma. There are a lot of factors that could have gone into that,” Freeze said of Arnold. “We could talk about, all the injuries, that they had three different coordinators, his loss of confidence. But I do think I saw a growing confidence through him all the way through spring.”

Eric Singleton kicks off the list in the top 10
Auburn made a statement by landing the transfer portal’s top wide receiver in Eric Singleton, formerly of Georgia Tech. Singleton checks in at No. 6 on ESPN’s list after he led the Yellow Jackets in receiving over the last two seasons with 1,468 receiving yards on 104 catches and nine touchdowns. ESPN’s Max Olsen feels that Singleton will slide into the roles left behind by KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Rivaldo Fairweather.
