Second Missouri football 2026 recruit decommits in space of 2 days

And then there was one.

Class of 2026 defensive lineman Anthony Kennedy Jr. announced Friday evening that he has backed out of his pledge to Missouri football. His announcement, which he posted to his X account, came shortly after Mizzou defensive line coach Al Davis announced that he has resigned, stepping away from the program due to personal reasons.

Kennedy is the second Mizzou recruit in the space of two days to decommit from the Tigers, following three-star safety D’Montae Tims, who told the Tribune on Thursday that he had reopened his recruitment but was still considering MU.

Now, there is just one player in Mizzou’s Class of 2026: Three-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar.

Kennedy is a three-star defensive lineman on the recruiting service 247Sports’ composite rankings. The Little Rock, Arkansas, native is listed at 6 foot 3.5, 334 pounds, and is rated as the No. 46 defensive lineman in his class.

He was the first player to commit to Mizzou’s 2026 class. Multiple reports indicate that Kennedy was expected to officially visit MU on June 20. It’s unclear if that visit will still take place. He reportedly also will visit Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU and Georgia, according to Rivals’ Adam Gorney.

With just one player committed in this cycle, Mizzou now has the nation’s No. 84-ranked recruiting class.

That is sandwiched between Florida at No. 83 and Kentucky at No. 85 in 247Sports’ team rankings, as both the Gators and Wildcats also only have one pledge apiece in 2026. No other SEC team has fewer than five commitments as of Friday, May 16.
