Smith will announce his commitment this Friday. How well does Auburn fit in the picture?
For the second year in a row, Auburn football is looking to close a deal with a four-star recruit named Jared Smith.
Auburn won the first sweepstakes last cycle by landing Jared Smith, a five-star EDGE rusher from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. This recruiting cycle, Auburn is in the mix for a four-star offensive lineman by the same name. The 2026 four-star interior offensive lineman is ready to announce his commitment, and he will choose between Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Rutgers on Friday, May 23.
Smith originally planned to commit in August following his official visits, according to On3’s Hunter Shelton. However, he has moved up his commitment date to May 23, one week before he kicks off his official visit tour at Rutgers on May 30.
Unlike last season’s success with 2025 signee Jared Smith, Auburn is behind in the race for the 2026 version. 247Sports and On3 both place Georgia and Rutgers at the forefront of his recruitment. On3 gives Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs a 56% chance to sign Smith, while 247Sports submitted a crystal ball prediction on May 18 in favor of Rutgers. The predictions correspond with his official visit schedule, as he has scheduled visits with just Georgia and Rutgers according to 247Sports.
Auburn has one offensive line commit to its 2026 class, Parker Pritchett of Columbus, Georgia. Auburn’s 2026 class ranks No. 32 according to 247Sports rankings, but will surely see a boost over the summer as official visits are beginning.
