Three-star class of 2026 defensive lineman Jamir Perez committed to Florida on Sunday.
Perez chose the Gators over top contenders Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Iowa State and the Wisconsin Badgers. He had visits scheduled to all five programs, including Madison, Wisconsin, on June 6. The defensive lineman instead committed to Florida on the heels of his May 16 visit.
247Sports ranks the Cleveland, Ohio, native as the No. 1,012 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 104 defensive lineman and the No. 41 recruit from his home state. On3’s Hayes Fawcett was the first to report Perez’s commitment, quoting the defensive lineman saying, “In the Swamp, let’s get to it, I’m home!”
Perez joins a Florida class of 2026 that currently ranks No. 73 in the nation, now with just two players committed. Four-star quarterback Will Griffin currently headlines the class.
Wisconsin’s class of 2026 currently ranks No. 42 nationally with seven commitments. It is still looking for its first blue-chip addition.
After Perez’s commitment, the Badgers will now turn their focus to their remaining defensive line targets in the class. Those recruiting efforts are pivotal with official visits set to heat up in the coming weeks.
