The season is still a few months away, but there are plenty of opinions about how Arch Manning will fare as the new starting quarterback at the University of Texas. The media and fans got a glimpse of Manning in 2024, but projecting two and a half games of play as a fill in into the 2025 season can be tricky.
Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt is out with his top five quarterbacks for the upcoming season. Manning is on his list and is the only QB mentioned that doesn’t have a season as a starter under his belt.
So where does Klatt rank the new kid on the block? Klatt ranks Manning as the No. 2 QB in college football. He ranks two-year starter Cade Klubnik of Clemson as the top QB in college. “Dabo Swinney has a quarterback that could lead them to a national championship,” Klatt said.
As for Manning, the former Colorado QB thinks Manning has all the tools to have a huge year for the Longhorns.
“I just don’t see a world that Arch doesn’t succeed at Texas. He’s got the pedigree. The games that we did see him play we saw a guy that can put the defense in conflict. We’re talking about with his legs and the ability to stretch the defense with his arm. So he can throw the ball down the field and threaten every single blade of grass on the field, but he can also put edge defenders in conflict and be one of the better running quarterbacks that we saw last year. In a lot of ways he reminds me and those that I work with of Trevor Lawrence. Arch at Texas with Sark and all those pieces around him I think he’s going to have a tremendous year.” – Joel Klatt of Fox Sports
