The Longhorns are targeting defensive back Jailen Hill
Over the last few years, one of the Longhorns’ strengths has been their defense. As they build for the future, they are looking to continue that trend. On Monday, they extended an offer to four-star prospect Jailen Hill.
Currently, Hill is ranked as the No.24 cornerback and 22nd-best player from California in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports. The talented defensive back has also gotten offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, and Florida. With plenty of time left for Hill to make a decision, Texas is the latest program to join that list, which should continue to grow.
During the recruiting process, Hill has been busy visiting schools nationwide. In April, he visited USC and Notre Dame. Next month, he will be in Columbus for a visit with Ohio State. The Longhorns hope that soon, a visit to Austin will be added to his itinerary.
This week, the Longhorns have been busy regarding the 2027 class. They extended an offer on Tuesday to Isaiah Phelps, who is also from California. If the talented duo were to join Texas, the Longhorns’ defense would get a boost as they look to build on their success in the SEC.
Although USC has the advantage of being in state, the Longhorns are expected to be a serious contender. They have excelled at developing cornerbacks which could help in their pursuit of Hill. The Longhorns have also been a fixture in the college playoff the last two years, which is a good selling point to any recruit.
As Hill continues to weigh all his options, the Longhorns will be a team to watch. His play has stood out to the Texas coaching staff, who has made their interest clear.
