Football: How does USA Today determine the top 100 recruits in Florida?

The First Academy Royals, boasting numerous Division I prospects, dominated a spring scrimmage against Lake Mary, winning 37-3.Top recruit Devin Jackson, who decommitted from Florida, is considering Miami, Oregon, LSU, and Nebraska.Danny Odem, a highly sought-after cornerback, received an offer from Ohio State after announcing his top eight schools.
Few spring games in the state boasted the amount of Division I talent that took the field in the May 15 scrimmage between Lake Mary and The First Academy.
The Royals are flush with talent on both sides of the ball, and ran way with the scrimmage early before turning in a final score of 37-3. A star-studded secondary composed of Devin Jackson, Danny Odem, and Demetrice McCray (Pitt commit) kept a spring-loaded Lake Mary offense out of the end zone while Alex Willis and Kington Shaw brought the pressure up front.

Miami, Oregon pushing hard for UF decommit Devin Jackson
Jackson immediately became a high priority for every school in the country after he decommitted from Florida. The No. 5 safety in the USA TODAY Florida Top 100 was a hard Gator commit until mid-April, marking the second defensive back in the 2026 class to walk back their commitment after position coach Will Harris departed Gainesville for the same role at Miami.
