DSU’s DeSean Jackson promises to right Hornets quickly: ‘Dover, are you ready?’
Former Eagle DeSean Jackson said he won’t rebuild at Delaware State, just start right, right away. The new head coach faces a daunting challenge picking up a program that was 2-21 in the last two seasons but was ready to get to work after he was introduced as head coach, Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025.
Former Eagles star and Delaware State head football coach DeSean Jackson will be using his talents to mold younger players starting May 30.
Jackson and DSU recently announced on Instagram a series of youth football camps taking place over three weeks at the Hornets’ Alumni Stadium in Dover. The camps will all be run by Delaware State staff.
The first camp session is May 30 for children ages 5-13. It is described as an “opportunity to work on skills and fundamentals.”
The second camp is a week later, on June 7, for high school-age athletes.
Participants will “be put through various drills and tests to examine all aspects of their football ability,” to be displayed for the various scouts in attendance, according to the website.
Syracuse University, the University of Maryland and the University of Colorado, all Power 5 football programs with recent success, are listed as the headliners set to be in attendance. The University of Memphis, Kent State and the University of Texas-San Antonio were also listed as attendees.
There are two sessions: one for quarterbacks, cornerbacks, and wide receivers and one for offensive linemen, defensive lineman, tight ends, linebackers and running backs.
A third camp occurs on July 11, described as the “7v7 and Big Man Camp.” This camp is specified to be for “high school teams,” looking to give coaches a chance to “gain insight into player’s teamwork, leadership, competitiveness” in a “nontraditional camp setting.” Athletes…
