WATCH: Climax-Scotts rolls past St. Philip in 8-Player Division Football
BATTLE CREEK — The St. Philip football program will have a new leader heading into the 2025 season. But the old leader won’t be too far away.
St. Philip announced Wednesday that Kevin Bennett will be the new head football coach for the Fighting Tigers. Former head coach Marc Pessetti will be an assistant coach, a role he had prior to taking over the top duties in 2020.
“Coach Marc Pessetti has made the decision to step down as head varsity football coach,” St. Philip Athletic Director Vicky Groat said. “We are deeply grateful for Marc’s service to our athletes. His passion, hard work and commitment have left a lasting impact on the program. We’re pleased to share that Coach Pessetti will continue to be involved as an assistant coach, where his experience and mentorship will remain a valuable asset.”

Bennett comes in to lead the Tigers with 18 years of coaching experience, including 10 years as a head coach at the varsity level. Bennett recently coached football at Colon High School and was also a head basketball coach at Calhoun Christian. He has also been an assistant in past years for the St. Philip football program.
“Join me in extending our heartfelt thanks to Coach Pessetti for his leadership and in giving a warm welcome to Coach Bennett as he steps into this new role. We’re optimistic about the future of our football program and confident that great things are ahead,” Groat said.
St. Philip went 5-4 last season under Pessetti.
