Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt is all-in on Cade Klubnik heading into the 2025 college football season.
In his annual preseason quarterback rankings, Klatt named the Clemson junior his No. 1 quarterback in the country. It’s a strong vote of confidence in Klubnik, who is coming off a breakout season and enters Year 3 as the Tigers’ starting signal-caller.
“I’m a big believer in Clemson, mainly because I think Cade Klubnik is going to be the best quarterback in college football next year,” Klatt said. “I think Cade is tremendous.”
Klatt placed Klubnik ahead of Texas’ Arch Manning (No. 2), with Oklahoma’s John Mateer, Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt, and Penn State’s Drew Allar rounding out the top five. The rest of Klatt’s top 10 includes LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier, Florida’s DJ Lagway, South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers, Illinois’ Luke Altmyer, and Miami’s Carson Beck.
Klubnik’s 2024 season was one of the most productive in the country. He threw for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns while completing 63.4% of his passes and tossing just six interceptions. He added 463 rushing yards and seven rushing scores, finishing second nationally in total touchdowns (43) and third in touchdown passes. Among quarterbacks who threw at least 28 touchdowns, only one had fewer interceptions.
“He pushes the ball down the field. He had the third-most completions in the country last year on throws of 20+ yards,” Klatt noted. “He’s athletic. He’s experienced. And he’s still in Garrett Riley’s offense, which he’s now had time to grow in. This is the perfect storm.”
Klatt also hinted at even bigger expectations for Klubnik this fall: “It’s going to be really tough for me not to go into next season and say my Heisman pick before the year is not Cade Klubnik.”
