There has been a lot of talk lately about the running back position in the 2026 recruiting class for Michigan State. Those talks, stemming from the expected miss of Haslett 4-star Kory Amachree, may have caused a hinderance to the Spartans fan base, but the coaching staff feels very differently.
The Spartans coaching staff has moved swiftly after the news that they are most likely losing the local running back, first identifying Detroit King running back Michael Dukes as an offer candidate, before now scheduling an official visit with a 4-star prospect.
Damon Ferguson, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, attending Milford Mill Academy, has locked in an official visit with MSU on June 16. Ferguson, a 5-foot-11, 195 pound running back, is expected to be pushed heavily by the Spartans.
Ferguson is a 4-star prospect on both ESPN and On3, ranks as the No. 380 overall player and No. 26 running back in the 247Sports composite rankings.
Aside from Michigan State, Ferguson has already officially visited Indiana, and will have visits to Minnesota and Virginia this June. This will be at least the second time Ferguson has made his way up to East Lansing for a visit.
Ferguson named a top 11 that consisted of: Michigan State, Pitt, Virginia, Indiana, North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Duke and Ohio State.
