Colorado football adds FCS linebacker Shaun Myers

Colorado finally scored a linebacker in the spring transfer portal after striking out on their main target, former BYU Cougar Harrison Taggart.

The Buffaloes secured a commitment from North Alabama linebacker Shaun Myers after bringing him in for a visit earlier this month. 247 Sports rated Myers as a 3-star player and the No. 103 best linebacker in the spring transfer portal.

Myers shined in his sophomore season for North Alabama, totaling 58 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions. He is undersized for the off-ball linebacker spot at just 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, but his unique build helps him in pass coverage, where he’s at his best.

While he played at a lackluster FCS program, Myers has shown himself capable of playing against elite competition, recording six tackles with one for loss against No. 4 Florida State in 2023. Colorado not only adds a talented linebacker but also someone who can provide a stable voice for the locker room.

Myers comes to Boulder with just one year of eligibility remaining and will be tasked with boosting a Buffalo defense surrounded by the Big 12’s elite quarterback talent. Colorado’s transfer portal class now sits at No. 19 in the country and second in the Big 12, behind Texas Tech.
