After hosting prospects for the first weekend of official visit season this past weekend, Michigan State is gearing up for hosting more prospects in an untraditional midweek setting. Visits for the next round of prospects will begin on Monday, June 2, and run until Wednesday, June 4.
Michigan State opened their June with a bang, gaining the commitment of plan A, 3-star linebacker Braylon Hodge, and the Spartans will look to continue that momentum in the following weeks.
The midweek official visit slate is a big one for the Spartans, being headlined by two 4-star prospects and a key flip target that the Spartans have been working on for months. To round it all out, two offensive line targets will be making their way on campus.
Check out the breakdown of the five prospects that will be visiting the Spartans to start the week:
4-star Carter Gooden
The true headliner of the slate, 4-star defensive end Carter Gooden is a prospect MSU has been on for months, and is atop their edge rushing board. A 6’4″, 260 pound defensive end, he originally from Canada, but now hails in Marion, Massachusetts , playing for Tabor Academy.
He ranks as the No. 69 overall player and No. 9 defensive lineman according to 247Sports. The Spartans are in a mad mix of contenders getting (or have already gotten) official visits, including Arizona State, Boston College, North Carolina, Rutgers, Syracuse, UCLA and Virginia.
4-star Tyson Harley
Another priority edge rushing prospect is 4-star Tyson Harley, who will also be given the red carpet treatment alongside Gooden. He is a 6-foot-4, 215 pound edge rusher that ranks as the No. 346 overall player and No. 39 edge rusher. He is from Washington, DC, attending Gonzaga.
He is being pursued by Maryland, Penn State, Rutgers and Virginia Tech.
