In a turn of events, the Wisconsin Badgers are losing one of their commits, as the Ole Miss Rebels have flipped 2026 three-star defensive lineman Carmelow Reed following an official visit this weekend.
Reed, a 6’7, 250-pound defensive end, had committed to Wisconsin back in early April. However, his recruitment continued to grow, as schools like Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, and LSU all offered in March.
Of the bunch, Ole Miss stood out, getting Reed’s first official visit this weekend, which brewed trouble. Now, the Illinois native has committed to head coach Lane Kiffin and the Rebels, and he won’t be taking an official visit to Wisconsin this weekend, according to 247Sports’s Allen Trieu, closing that door.
Reed was the foundation of Wisconsin’s defensive line class, being the first to commit at the position in April. However, the Badgers landed big this weekend while Reed was at Ole Miss, nabbing commitments from both Arthur Scott and Djidjou Bah on Sunday.
Now, those two recruits are at the forefront of Wisconsin’s defensive line class for the 2026 cycle.
Reed provides solid versatility for the Rebels as a possible outside linebacker with great length at 6’7. But, he has the frame to grow and either play on the edge or kick inside into a five-tech role.
Ultimately, even with the two commitments this weekend, this is a blow for the Badgers, given how fast the interest between Reed and Ole Miss materialized.
