Wisconsin football recruiting Carmelow Reed flip commitment Ole Miss

Wisconsin football class of 2026 commit, edge rusher Carmelow Reed, flipped his commitment to Ole Miss on Monday.

Reed committed to the Badgers back on April 8, initially choosing the program over a loaded offer sheet that included LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri and Ole Miss. He flipped to the Rebels on the heels of an official visit to the program on May 30. The Olympia Fields, Illinois, native was scheduled to visit the Badgers on June 6.

247Sports currently lists Reed as a three-star recruit. He is specifically ranked as the No. 532 player in the class of 2026, No. 63 defensive lineman and No. 13 recruit from his home state. He joins an Ole Miss class of 2026 that currently ranks in the mid-30s nationally with eight players committed (three blue-chip). The program has finished each of the last five cycles within the nation’s top 20.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin’s class drops to nine commitments with Reed’s departure. He was previously the program’s highest-rated commit in the class.

Wisconsin had built significant momentum over the last few days, landing three commitments after the month’s first official visit weekend. Reed’s departure halts that positive movement, adding even more importance to upcoming decisions from Wisconsin high-priority targets LB McHale Blade, WR Jayden Petit, RB Amari Latimer. OT Kamari Blair and athlete Jackson Ford.
