Clemson lands first 2027 commit in 4-star LB Max Brown

Clemson football’s 2027 recruiting cycle couldn’t have started with a bigger name — or a more familiar one. Four-star linebacker Max Brown, the younger brother of current Tiger standout Sammy Brown, has committed to Clemson just one day after receiving an offer.

Brown held close to 20 offers, including ones from Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State. As a sophomore, he racked up an incredible 152 tackles — averaging more than 10 per game — with 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, three fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble.

Recruiting sites are already in agreement on his elite potential. He ranks as the No. 13 athlete and No. 281 overall player in the 247Sports Composite, while On3’s industry rankings list him as the No. 14 linebacker and No. 229 overall prospect nationally. Rivals is even higher on Brown, rating him No. 82 overall and the No. 4 linebacker in the 2027 class.

With the Brown family already making its mark in Clemson’s linebacker room, the addition of Max adds to a growing legacy — and kicks off the 2027 class with a major tone-setter.
