Carter Scruggs commits to Dabo Swinney in 2026 class

CLEMSON — Clemson football and coach Dabo Swinney landed their sixth offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Carter Scruggs.

The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder from Loudoun County High School in Leesburg, Virginia, is rated the No. 7 player in the state and No. 12 interior offensive lineman nationally by the 247Sports Composite rankings. Delaney chose Clemson over Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma and Penn State. He announced his commitment June 5 on On3Sports’ YouTube channel.

Scruggs helped Loudoun to an 8-3 record last season and was a state qualifier in shot put. He is Clemson’s 18th commitment in the 2026 class. He joins Leo Delaney, Chancellor Barclay, Adam Guthrie, Grant Wise and Braden Wilmes as Clemson’s offensive lineman commitments, continuing offensive line coach Matt Luke’s recruiting presence. He is also the second player to commit to Clemson on June 5, joining three-star defensive end JR Hardrick.

Swinney’s 2026 class is ranked No. 3 nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and it has 12 four-star recruits and six three-stars commits. It is a complete change from last year’s cycle that finished with 15 signees and ranked 26th nationally, which was Swinney’s lowest-rated cycle since 2010 and his smallest class since 2017.

Scruggs is the first recruit from Virginia in the 2026 class to commit to the Tigers. He is also the 12th offensive player to commit to Clemson.
