MADISON – More responsibility will be placed on the shoulders of the tight ends in Jeff Grimes’ offense.
So far the larger role has been a pretty good selling point to players at that position on the recruiting trail.
The Wisconsin football program brought in two tight ends during its first major weekend of official visits and by June 4 both players had committed to the Badgers’ 2026 class.
Jack Janda, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound standout at Detroit Catholic Central High School, announced his commitment to UW on X and Instagram.
His post, which included a picture of him in a Wisconsin uniform, was to the point: COMMITTED.
Janda is the 11th player to commit to Wisconsin’s 2026 class, the first player from Michigan and the second tight end. Jack Sievers of Archbishop Murray High School in Everett, Washington, committed June 2. He is also the fifth player from last weekend’s official visit to accept UW’s scholarship offer.
Wisconsin’s offer to Janda dates to June of last year. He had 26 Division I offers that included nine from Big Ten schools. In addition to Wisconsin, the list included Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue and Washington.
According to 247sports, the consensus three-star prospect also had official visits scheduled for Illinois, Michigan State and Stanford.
