When Dante Carr learned that UCF quarterbacks coach McKenzie Milton was making the journey to Pennsylvania for a recruiting visit, it was only natural that the junior quarterback would prepare for the occasion with a bit of pre-game scouting.
He already knew of Milton’s impressive tenure as the Knights’ starting quarterback, a role he held for five remarkable seasons from 2016 through 2020. However, what Carr didn’t fully grasp was the level of talent and skill that Milton possessed on the field.
“I knew he was really good … that 13-0 season at UCF, I watched his highlight tape and I was like, ‘Wow, he knows how to play ball,’” Carr recently told the Sentinel.
After sitting down with the 27-year-old coach, Carr recognized Milton’s aptitude for the position.
“He’s knowledgeable about the game. He’s played in coach [Scott] Frost’s system at UCF, and having a quarterback coach with that experience was a significant factor in my commitment,” Carr explained.
A week after his official campus visit, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Carr announced his commitment to UCF, becoming the second quarterback to join the Knights’ 2026 recruiting class.

It was his connection with Milton, Frost and the rest of the coaching staff that inevitably sold him on shutting down his recruitment and committing to the program.
“They just made it feel like home and the way they can develop a quarterback,” Carr said. “That was a huge part for me and my family. My mom and dad both said they wanted those [coaches] to be the coaches to coach me. So that was mainly the big part that made me decide to commit to UCF so early.”
It was his connection with Frost that helped solidify his decision.
