Virginia Tech Hokies football host several top targets

It was another busy weekend in Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech football program. As with every year, the start of June means official visits across the country in college football. When the NCAA instituted the early signing period a few years back, it changed the timelines for players wanting to commit sooner.

Last weekend, the Hokies hosted multiple players on official visits to kick off a month full of visits. This weekend, head coach Brent Pry and his staff hosted several others.

Here are some of the names in Blacksburg over the weekend:

3-star S Nick Reddish, Charlotte, N.C.
3-star WR Jayden Kitchens, Upper Marlboro, MD.
3-star ATH Eltonino Hicks, Upper Marlboro, MD.
3-star OL Malcolm Gaston, North Augusta, S.C.
3-star LB Zay Hall, Tuscaloosa, Alabama
3-star DL Kamdon Gillespie, Mooresville, N.C.
3-star K Will Love, Spartanburg, S.C. (Virginia Tech commit)
3-star RB Jamal Rule, Charlotte, N.C.
3-star EDGE Kamden Johnson, Virginia Beach, VA.

Two names probably stick out the most to Virginia Tech fans: Reddish and Love. Reddish is the younger brother of VT sophomore safety Quentin Reddish and junior cornerback Joseph Reddish. Notre Dame is the primary competition for the Hokies in this battle. Reddish seemed to enjoy his time in Blacksburg, though.

Love is the younger brother of current Virginia Tech kicker John Love, and he committed to the Hokies in April. John Love is an All-American candidate as one of the country’s top kickers.

Kitchens and Hicks are high school teammates and both seemed to have a great time in Blacksburg.

Gaston is an interesting prospect. He has college-ready size to play immediately. He has SEC offers, but it’s unclear how committable those offers are currently. If he could lock him into a commitment, it would be a big win for new offensive line coach Matt Moore….
