The summer in college football is a crucial time for coaching staffs to make significant progress in recruiting before the relentless grind of the fall schedule begins. Texas A&M is working to get as many prospects on campus as possible to convince them why they should join the Maroon & White.
However, schedules often change, and sometimes players decide not to take their planned visits. This is common in college football, and with the rise of social media and NIL, every move a top recruit makes is scrutinized.
On Wednesday morning, it was announced that top-50 recruit Jamarion Carlton had canceled his official visit to Texas A&M. The timing is notable: the 2026 edge rusher had just wrapped up a visit a few miles south in Austin. Predictably, light-hearted jabs were exchanged between the two fan bases.
Ultimately, this leaves the Aggies’ staff with two options. Shift focus to another edge prospect in the class or maintain the relationship and reschedule for a later date. There’s still plenty of time before these verbal commits put pen to paper, but moments like these give fans plenty to talk about during the dog days of summer.
