A top 2026 defensive back has his eyes on Deion Sanders and Colorado after decommitting from Missouri in early May.
Three-star recruit D’Montae Tims announced on Monday that he will be taking an official visit to Colorado this weekend. Tims, a Florida native, is the 247Sports Composite’s No. 80 safety and the No. 126 player in the state.
Sanders and Colorado extended an offer to Tims on June 1, about a month after the recruit withdrew his commitment from Missouri. Tims discussed his upcoming official visit with 247Sports.
“I’m definitely excited to get out there and see everything in person,” Tims said to 247Sports. “Colorado has been showing love consistently, and just the energy around the program, especially with ‘Coach Prime’ leading it, is something different. I’m looking forward to seeing how they operate and what the vibe is like with the players and coaches.”
Tims recently took an official visit to Louisville on June 6 and is set to visit Georgia on June 20, a trip that will also include a return to Missouri, indicating he hasn’t entirely ruled out the Tigers. Tims will also visit the Vanderbilt Commodores this weekend in addition to his Colorado visit.
“Colorado has been real with me,” Tims continued. “They see my versatility and believe I can be a big part of what they’re building. They talk a lot about development, playing early, and making an impact not just on the field, but ofalso f it tIt’s not just hype, they’re speaking to my goals.”
Colorado is going up against Big 12 foes Iowa State and Kansas State for Tims’ signature.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive back can play multiple positions in the secondary and racked up 29 tackles, five pass breakups, three interceptions and two sacks as a junior in 2024.
