Oregon football Big Ten rival pushing for 5-star target

The Oregon Ducks are looking to go on a hot streak in the recruiting world this summer, with several high-profile recruits set to come off of the board before the football season begins. One of those recruits is 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, the No. 8 player in the 2026 class.

The Ducks have been among the top schools, if not the leader for Iheanacho for quite a while, but this past weekend, a rival Big Ten team hosted the 6-foot-6, 345-pounder on an official visit; it reportedly made a pretty good impression.

The Penn State Nittany Lions moved up Iheanacho’s board this weekend, according to On3. Iheanacho also said on his social media that he plans to return to Happy Valley this year and check out the campus for the whiteout game, which has been announced for September 27 when the Ducks come to town.

While the Nittany Lions may have done well to move up the 5-star’s board this weekend, the Ducks have an opportunity next week to get their shot, with Iheanacho taking his final official visit of the year to Eugene. Oregon’s coaching still will have a chance to get the final word in, and set the plan for the 5-star OT in stone ahead of his schedule commitment on August 5.
