Rutgers football Director of Recruiting Ramon Ruiz will be taking his talents to the next level of football as he is leaving Rutgers to take a job with the Baltimore Ravens. He is listed as a Player Personnel Assistant on the Ravens website.
As a Director of Recruiting, Ruiz oversaw much of Rutgers’ recruitment process and helped organize their efforts.
Ruiz climbed the latter quickly at Rutgers. He started off as a Player Development and Personnel assistant for the Scarlet Knights in 2022. About half a year later he was promoted to Player Personnel Analyst. Nine months later, he was promoted again to Director of Recruiting where he helped head coach Greg Schiano put together three impressive recruiting classes.
Ruiz played a major role in the 2024,2025 and 2026 recruiting classes. Rutgers finished with the No.35 overall recruiting class in 2024. In 2025, Rutgers jumped forward, landed more high end talent than normal, and finished with the No.30 recruiting class in the country. Rutgers currently sits just outside the top 10 for the 2026 recruitment class and looks poised to finish much better than last year.
Before Rutgers, Ruiz was the Tight Ends Coach at Wesleyan University and a Student Athletic Trainer Assistant at Bates College
This isn’t the only shakeup the Knight’s coaching staff underwent this week as Schiano announced at his charity gold tournament that Director of Sports Performance Jay Butler was let go after working with Schiano for 18 years, both in college and the NFL.
