Texas A&M is close to landing its first five-star commitment in the 2026 recruiting class over the next two days, as standout athlete/cornerback Brandon Arrington will announce his decision on Thursday, June 19, just a day before he makes his way to College Station for his official visit with the Aggies.
Arrington’s journey has been an interesting one, as USC, Oregon, and Alabama made significant strides this offseason. Still, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and defensive back coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson have built a strong relationship with the California native. At the same time, a recruiting pipeline in the Golden State has been established after landing three of the top-ranked California prospects in the 2025 signing class.
On Monday night, Arrington took to X to reveal his plans for the final stretch of his recruitment, as he will choose between Texas A&M and Oregon, making his decision between the two programs on Thursday before heading back to College Station this weekend. This is significant news for Elko and his staff, as they know that all the hard work this spring could pay off in just two days.
In ten games during his 2024 junior season, Arrington recorded 26 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception, while reeling in 57 receptions for 527 yards and five touchdowns on offense.
According to 247Sports Composite, Arrington is currently the 10th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 1-ranked athlete, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California. Arrington will announce his commitment on July 5.
