CBS Sports believes that Jackson Arnold will make the most of his new situation at Auburn.
Auburn football will have a strong, experienced offensive line and a wide receiver unit that rivals the best in the nation. All it needs is a quarterback that can lead the offense and play at a high, consistent level. Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers may have found their guy in Jackson Arnold, a transfer from Oklahoma.
Arnold passed for over 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2025 with the Sooners, but he never had the opportunity to lead the offense consistently due to several factors beyond his control. Now that Arnold is a Tiger, CBS Sports believes that the college football world will see him reach his full potential.
Carter Bahns of CBS Sports included Arnold in his list of quarterbacks that could ‘silence critics’ in 2025 by having a breakout season. Bahns sees Arnold’s situation at Auburn as the complete opposite of what he had in Norman, which could lead to a special year for the Tigers.
There might not be a better buy-low candidate in college football than Arnold. He massively upgraded his situation with the transfer from Oklahoma to Auburn, trading a porous offensive line and injury-riddled receiving corps for a supporting cast that features some of the best wideouts in the nation. So many of Arnold’s struggles in his first year as a starter can be attributed to factors outside of his control. It is hard not to envision him taking a step forward with his new team.
Auburn will look to provide more security to Arnold this season. Last year at Oklahoma, Arnold was pressured 132 times, with 36 of those pressures being registered as sacks.
