Florida State football is looking to rebound from a 2-10 season with new coaching staff and players.Several freshmen and sophomores, including running back Ousmane Kromah and wide receiver Lawayne McCoy, are poised for breakout seasons.The Seminoles’ defense also features potential breakout candidates like defensive back Charles Lester III and defensive lineman Kevin Wynn.
With a new coaching staff and a host of new players from both the transfer portal and high school ranks, there is cautious optimism for the future of Florida State football.
Following the disastrous 2-10 season, Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell brought in Gus Malzahn as offensive coordinator and Tony White as the program’s new defensive coordinator to help revitalize a reshaped roster.
Among the new faces, there are a handful of underclassmen players who are on the cusp of a breakthrough in the Seminoles’ 2025 campaign. With 33 players leaving the program in the transfer portal and another 20 exhausting eligibility, there is room for the freshmen and sophomores on the roster to become impact players.

Ousmane Kromah, running back, freshman
Recently arriving on campus, freshman running back Ousmane Kromah could carry a heavy load for the Seminoles’ offense under Malzahn. His profile fits the prototype of what the Seminoles’ new offensive coordinator tends to like, and it could push Kromah into some early usage.
