Illinois football added another edge rusher to its Class of 2026.
Connecticut outside linebacker Kayden Bennett announced his commitment to coach Bret Bielema and the Fighting Illini on Tuesday, days after an official visit to the Champaign campus.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pounder is a three-star recruit from Suffield Academy. He chose the Illini over UConn and Temple, according to Illini Inquirer. He also had Power Four offers from West Virginia, Washington, Boston College, Wake Forest and Syracuse.
Bennett is the 20th recruit in the Illini’s Class of 2026 and fourth pass rusher.
“Bennett doesn’t have ideal length, but the Connecticut pass rusher is a good, effective football player,” wrote Jeremy Werner of Illini Inquirer. “He has an explosive first step, a stout frame, a high motor and very good technique for a prep prospect.”
