Defensive back LaRon Dues commits to Hoosiers

IU football coach Curt Cignetti: ‘We’ve got a chance to be as good as we want to be’

Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti shares his overall impressions of the team’s performance during spring practice.

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football landed a verbal commitment from defensive back LaRon Dues on Tuesday.

Dues, who took an official visit to Bloomington last weekend, made the announcement on social media.

While the defensive back out of Cardinal Mooney High School in Florida isn’t currently ranked (per On3), he’s received plenty of interest from Power Four schools. He has 24 scholarship offers, including from Arizona, Kentucky, Oregon, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

Dues had 81 tackles (64 solo) as a junior with 7 tackles for a loss, four interceptions, 25 passes defended and a forced fumble. He also spent time returning kicks and punts for his team. He is 5 foot 9, 155 pounds.

Indiana has doubled the size of its 2026 recruiting class in June with nine verbal commitments, eight of those coming in the last 10 days. The Hoosiers class now ranks No. 29 in the country (10th in the Big Ten), according to On3’s industry rankings.

Dues is the third defensive back in the class.
