Illinois football gets commit from 3-star safety Isaiah Williams, Class of 2026

The Illinois football program added to its Class of 2026 talent pool Wednesday when Texas safety Isaiah Williams committed.

Williams, a three-star prospect from Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall is ranked No. 56 at the safety position for Class of 2026 recruits by 247Sports and No. 83 overall in Texas.

His pile of more than 30 offers included finalists Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Ohio State, LSU, Utah and Oregon State, but he eventually chose Illinois.

Williams had big prep numbers as a sophomore in 2023, with 86 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four interceptions and five pass breakups in 11 games. Last season, as a junior, he added nine games, 56 tackles, five tackles for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery for touchdown.

The 6-foot, 190-pound safety joins an Illini Class of 2026 haul that includes a pair of four-star recruits and 19 three-star prospects.
